A New Jersey teacher has been indicted on 40 counts of aggravated assault and endangering the welfare of a child for allegedly having sex with six students.
According to reports, 35-year-old Nicole DuFault remains free on $500,000 bail after being arrested for sex with six different male students ages 14 and 15 throughout 2013 and 2014.
DuFault was initially arrested and charged back in September for sex with five students, but right before her case was presented to a grand jury for indictment, a sixth victim was revealed. In October, DuFault posted bail and has been free since.
DuFault, a mother of two children herself, has some pretty incriminating evidence against her already. Reports say that video of her performing oral sex on one of the victims while another victim is present could prove to be enough to put her away, but her lawyer claims that the video might not “tell the entire story.”
“If the video depicts certain things happening...that doesn't mean that my client's not innocent,” Timothy Smith said, also noting that “for example, she could be the victim.”
DuFault was reportedly a language arts teacher at Columbia High School in Maplewood, New Jersey for several years prior to her arrest.
