A 23-year-old mother has been accused of repeatedly stabbing and mutilating her 4-year-old son outside of the family’s home in Texas on Thursday.
Jenea Mungia allegedly stabbed her son all over his body in their Houston home before dragging the boy out into the driveway to continue the assault, the Daily Mail reports.
A FedEx driver, who called 911, saw a topless Mungia allegedly use a garden tool to beat the boy and slam his head onto the driveway.
According to KHOU, in court, prosecutors said her son suffered "multiple stab wounds to the torso, contusions to the head from blunt force trauma and his genitals were partially mutilated.”
When deputies arrived at the scene around 1:15 p.m., they say the mother was still attacking the boy. They tackled and handcuffed her before finding blood inside the house and a bloodied shirt along the driveway.
The little child was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he was in critical condition and taken straight into an operating room for surgery.

Harris County Sheriff's Deputy Thomas Gilliland says the deputies that responded were shaken up by the gruesome scene.
“Evidently she was in some kind of state," Gilliland told the Houston Chronicle. "The scene itself was a terrible one for deputies to arrive to.”
Friends say that Mungia was diagnosed with postpartum psychosis when she had her son and recently moved back in with her parents in Houston from Alice, Texas, where she had stayed with a boyfriend. But they thought that the young mother got treatment and had everything under control.
"I love my kids more than anything in this whole world,” neighbor Sarah Moore told KTRK. “I couldn't imagine hurting them. Shame on you.”
Mungia, who was questioned and taken in for a mental health evaluation, has been charged with injury to a child.
