For those of you who are friends with the Major, I wanted to share some sad news that I received in a phone call from his beloved Mrs. Tool earlier this evening.

The Major lapsed into unconsciousness late Thursday night, New York USA time, and was rushed to Veterans Hospital for Surgical Services (if I have that correct) in Manhattan. He is still in coma and his vital signs are not very strong as of 8 o'clock this evening my time.

I got to know the Major much better over the last 6 months or so and he is one of the most wonderful men I have had the pleasure of calling a comrade in arms. I shall bow my head and pray for his recovery. The Major has always spoken highly of so many members of the old AS community and if any of you are still out there, please keep him in your hearts and minds. If you are a person of religious faith, please say a prayer for him tonight. If you are not, please raise a glass in his honour or give him a salute. He is a brave man who has fought many hardships and has always put his fellow man first. I think now would be a nice time for us to put him first in our thoughts.

If/when I have any updates to deliver, I shall.

Thanks for taking a moment to read this.

Cheers.

this has been taken from broken jam which for the mods that come here i hope that this one time is ok , if not please pm me as you will understand it isn't the thread for bitching and i will remove the thread.

wishing the major all the best in this hard time, good luck mate

I will say a pray for the Major tonight. I got to know Major over at AS. I think he got a kick out a couple college boys like GF, golfer and I giving him some shit. And I got a kick out of him giving it back to me. He was truly from a different generation than me, and I really respected him for all he done.

Good journey, Major...hopefully towards recovery.

Here I was just wondering where the Major went... I miss that ole fart :D ... I truly came to know him on the forums posting with Gf and Cactus, those were the days... He was of a different generation but had the spirit that encapsulates all generations. I hope he recovers to a state of being that is like his old self but if not i wish him farewell and Gods speed. Thank you for the memories and he is definitely in my mind....
Gods speed you ole fart :/

As of Thursday evening, The Major wasn't doing very well. I spoke to one of his daughters and she said that he hasn't spoken since sometime last weekend. I will probably know more tomorrow morning and I'll post any news here. God bless him.

sorry to have to post this but

I am very sorry to advise everybody that we lost The Major this past Thursday, 9 June. I was on holiday at the time and only received the news last night. As of now I have not spoken to his wife or any other family members so I do not know how much information I should share here at the moment. Please keep our friend and his beloved family in your thoughts.

RIP major i enjoyed the posts and banter you gave us :rip:

Son of a MFing B.... How in the hell did I miss this? So sad to hear that he's gone. He reminded me so much of my favorite uncle (who has been gone for years) Chatting with MT was like talking to Uncle Bill.
I wish his family well in this time, and send them prayers as well. Let us know, Red, if they need anything at all.

Awww. RIP Major. It was fun chatting in the Consumerism thread with him.

Maybe we should set up a buddy system where one of us gives each other their phone number and after a prolonged absence, they can phone?

What do you say that hasn't already been said... a quick thought to the Major may all your humor entertain the angels we all know you will have them in stitches, thank you for all the memories you will be missed. RIP you ole fart :)... While this is a time for sadness it also is a time of great happiness, as many of you know who chatted with him he was always in pain and towards the end not doing well, Now we all know he is doing great. His family is in my thoughts, may their pain be lessened.

Tragic tragic news. And my apologies for just seeing this. I have been a bit busy in the "real world". I think this is the first person I knew personally on a forum that has past and just because I/we never met you in the flesh it does not lessen the blow. Major you will be missed and our thoughts and prayers go out to your friends and family.
