An Oklahoma man is facing multiple charges after reportedly raping and physically abusing three teenage girls he was holding captive at his home.
Gregory Zavala, 23, is facing charges of kidnapping, child sexual abuse, assault and battery with a deadly weapon, and rape in the first degree. He also has a separate charge in a different county in Oklahoma of possession of child pornography, which investigators found on his phone.
According to court documents, Zavala lured the three teen girls into his home in Tuttle, Oklahoma, at separate times over a two-year period between 2011 and 2013.
Two victims were 16 and 17 at the time and were reportedly kidnapped. The third victim’s age was not disclosed, but officials say she was also a minor at the time.
The 16-year-old victim told authorities that Zavala locked her in his bedroom and held her against her will between March 2011 and May 2011, NewsOK.com reports.
She said that Zavala forced her to perform sexual acts “on an almost daily basis.” She eventually became pregnant and was able to escape, the Daily Mail reports.
The 17-year-old victim was reportedly held captive in the same home from January 2012 to August 2012. Zavala allegedly punched her, strangled her, hit her with a metal bar, and cut her with a box knife.
She was also allegedly sexually assaulted and became pregnant. She escaped shortly after.
The third victim was homeless at the time. She began dating Zavala in October 2012 and he offered her a place to live.
After she moved in, Zavala reportedly had her car towed so she couldn’t leave. He also viciously assaulted her by bashing her head with a hammer multiple times in December 2012, the report says. The assault caused a permanent skull deformity.
The girl told investigators Zavala raped her almost every day. She added that he would at times use a belt to strangle her during attacks, causing her to lose consciousness.
“Zavala told (her) no one would miss her when she was dead, because no one was looking for her,” stated the affidavit.
All three girls said Zavala threatened to kill them and their families if they ever left his house, which he shared with his parents. The parents are also under investigation.
Zavala is being held in Grady County Jail with a bail set at $2 million. A judge ordered that if he meets bail, he cannot have contact with anyone under the age of 18.
Zavala will appear in court for a preliminary hearing on June 9.
