A GARAGE attendant in Italy will be looking for a new job after a mishap of epic proportions.
Robert Cinti destroyed a $A600,000 Ferrari GTO 599 by crashing into a shop front after mistaking the accelerator for the brake.
The 38-year-old was delivering the 2012 599 GTO to the Dutch owners who had taken part in a Ferrari Owner’s Club meeting in Anzio, south of Rome.
Mr Cinti was driving the vehicle — which can go from 0 to 100km/h in three seconds — when he lost control and crashed into a store, destroying the luxury car and badly damaging the shop front.
“I got confused — instead of the brake, I pressed down on the accelerator,” he told police who were first on the scene, according to Corriere della Sera.

After the incident, the driver received treatment in hospital for mild injuries and shock.
The identity of the Dutch owner has been kept private so his reaction to what happened is not yet known.
An insurance company is currently investigating the matter.
Only three Ferraris have been designated GTO and the 599 is the only road car to have that honour.
The 599 is of the latest models produced by Ferrari and can reach speeds of up to 320km/h.
