Late last week I posted a story about a guy that found a large bag of money that fell off an armored car:

The dude in the story returned the money, according to him, without even thinking about doing anything else.

Personally, I dunno if I could have made the same decision. Sure, it's easy to say after the fact that he never considered keeping the money, but is he being honest? I'm being honest with myself when I say I probably would have had to think about it. A ginormous bag of untraceable money just sitting there on the highway? If there was nobody else around and you came upon that, could you honestly say that you wouldn't have thought about keeping it? I sure would have had those thoughts...

It would be a tough battle. I think a lot would depend on the circumstances. If you kept it and got caught I'm sure it would be serious charges.

Nope, it's on a stretch of road that has no traffic on it at the time and there are no houses or buildings visible nearby.

Exactly, I find it hard to believe when someone makes the claim that they never even thought about keeping it, I was going to turn it in from the second I saw it.

I would have the same worry. Even if there were no witnesses I would always think (like daily...) if the bank or the government/police would ever catch up with me. Would make it hard to relax and enjoy the cash :-k

You'd have to be so careful with transactions...as in, never depositing anything over and above your normal levels and never purchasing any large ticket items with cash.
