Sadly, these animal cruelty incidents are all too common.
But this flat-coated retriever was left wandering around for two days with an arrow sticking out of her head.
Gemma was found near Detroit, US, after her cruel owner attempted to kill her.
Aimee Orn, chief animal control officer for Lapeer County, said: ‘It’s a miracle. It missed everything important by millimeters.
‘There are too many other options these days if you don’t want a dog other than taking it out in a field and shooting it.’
The weapon narrowly missed the two-year-old’s brain and optic nerve.

Animal officers were tipped off by a relative of the owner.
Aimee said authorities have told her the unnamed owner may have shot his dog for a number of reasons including the fact that she pooed in the house, reports USA Today.
Gemma is recovering at animal control and is not expected to have long-term effects from the injury.
It is not known if any police action is being brought against the owner.
