SELINSGROVE — A Shamokin Dam man is in jail after police said he assaulted an employee who wouldn't give him a free pizza.

Michael Joseph Runko, 28, of Shamokin Dam, is accused of entering the Papa John's in the 1900 block of North Susquehanna Trail, north of Selinsgrove, about 11:40 p.m. Sunday and demanding free pizza.

When told he was not getting any, state police say Runko walked behind the counter, assaulted an employee, grabbed a couple of pizzas and walked out the back door.

Runko also is accused of demanding money from a delivery man he encountered outside, striking him the face and throwing a brick that struck a vehicle, police said.

Runko fled from troopers conducting a search for him, and when found a short time later, he allegedly spit and swing at the troopers, charging documents state.

Runko was committed to the Snyder County Prison in lieu of $100,000 bail on charges of robbery, aggravated and simple assault, resisting arrest, harassment, theft, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness.
