A Florida mother of three found herself facing some unusual stares after she recently received a shiny new driver’s license from her local tax collector’s office.

It seems Tammy Lemasters’ license labeled her as a “sexual predator” instead of an organ donor, according to WESH. The brand was written in bold blue letters on the bottom right-hand corner of the new license.

Not realizing the error had occurred, Lemasters left with that new license thinking all was well.

It didn’t take long for issues to start cropping up. Lemasters, 42, wasn’t able to book a hotel room, got strange looks from cashiers and ultimately ended up being afraid to drive her car, CBS reported.

While the Lake County Tax Collector’s Office fixed the error when it was brought to light, Lesmasters has filed an intent to sue on defamation charges, the network reported.

“I was afraid of the kids being in the car,” the network quoted her as saying.

The tax collector’s office is chalking up the snafu to human error.

“People make mistakes,” Mark O’Keefe of the tax collector’s office was quoted by the Palm Beach Post as saying. “When we find them, we move swiftly to correct them.”

Lemasters and her attorney, John Phillips, have not stated what damages they intend to seek, but have made it clear they believe an incorrect drop-down box was checked by an employee when the license was issued.

“(Workers need to) be able to push more than one button to label somebody that,” Lesmasters was quoted by WESH as saying.

As it turns out, the state is in the process of updating its motor vehicle software to include a new window that will pop up asking workers if they are sure they really want to click “sexual predator” when filling out new licenses.

In the meantime, Lemasters has received a new license that no longer labels her as a sexual predator.

She and O’Keefe agree that it is important for everyone to carefully check licenses before leaving with them.

Lake County court records do not indicate a formal defamation suit has been filed as of yet.
