New regulations that the state of California's Occupational Health and Safety Standards Board are hoping to pass may soon make adult stars have to wear protective goggles during filming - because there's all sorts flying about.
The authority has already managed to make it a legal requirement for pornstars to use condoms and now they want to make sure everything is protected. The latest proposal is not getting support within the industry - probably because porn might look a bit odd when everyone is wearing goggles. Imagine the storylines - everything will have to take place near a swimming pool, using tools or at a skiing lodge.
Diane Duke told the LA Times that they are hoping to make amendments to the proposed laws by March of next year, seeking advice from both pornstars and health experts so that production will not come to a halt.
These are regulations designed for medical settings, and are unworkable on an adult film set—or even a Hollywood film set. We’ve come to San Diego with ways to amend the regulations, with input from both performers and public health officials, in ways that protect adult film performers without stigmatizing and shutting down an entire industry.

After the condom ruling, the amount of films made in L.A. in a year went from 500 to 40 and if goggles become a legal requirement, it could see the rest of the industry flee the area.
