ST. CHARLES COUNTY • A mother of two young children who apparently overdosed on heroin while she was cooking for them has been arrested on multiple charges.
According to court documents, Amber Lynn Strong, 29, of the 1200 block of Veterans Memorial Parkway, was making dinner for her children, ages 7 and 8, when she shot up with heroin and passed out Monday.
Police said one of her children had to remove food from the oven so it wouldn't burn, and the girl injured her hand.
Both children then walked along Veterans Memorial Parkway, a busy outer road along Interstate 70, to get help for their mother, court documents said.
Strong is charged with two counts of endangering the welfare of a child, possession of a controlled substance, and misdemeanor unlawful use of drug paraphernalia.
She was being held Wednesday in the St. Charles County Jail. Bail is set at $25,000 cash-only.
