New Jersey law clerk Leslie Anderson is temporarily out of work and under fire after making a comment in bad taste about a trooper’s death.

On May 30, 24-year-old Anthony Raspa died in a car crash. In response, Anderson argued that his death was not sad, and “certainly not tragic.”

“Troopers were probably traveling at a dangerously high speed as per usual. Totally preventable,” Anderson said. “At least they didn’t take any of the citizens they were sworn to serve and protect with them.”

Anderson did, however, have sympathy for the deer that Raspa hit.

“I agree that it is sad and heart wrenching for the family members left to suffer the consequences of the Trooper’s recklessness,” Anderson said. “Especially for the deer family who lost a mommy or daddy or baby deer.”

Following the comments, Anderson was suspended from her job. She also received many negative comments from military personnel.

President of the State Troopers Fraternal Association Chris Burgos said that Anderson probably has a hatred for military people and what they do. Burgos added that he would make sure Anderson wouldn’t get her job back with the county.

Raspa was killed after hitting a deer and veering off into the woods. A funeral for the trooper will be held on Thursday.
