Texas cops cracked down on a black market operation flouting state health regulations — two little girls running a lemonade stand.
Sisters Andria and Zoey Green schemed to raise enough money to take their dad to Splash Kingdom water park for Father’s Day, they told KYTX.
“We were doing just fine until the cops came,” Andria, 7, told the station.
“They shut us down,” Zoey, 8, added.
A joint squad of Overton police and code enforcement officers sprang into action after uncovering the illicit juice purveyors.
The tiny kingpins had already earned $25 selling lemonade for 50 cents a cup and “Kettle Korn” for $1 a bag when authorities busted them for not taking out the proper permits.
“We have to follow by the state health guidelines,” Overton police Chief Clyde Carter told KLTV. “They have to have a permit if they’re going to do the lemonade stands.”
The girls’ mother thinks that’s ridiculous, but the sisters were only temporarily deterred.
The budding entrepreneurs say they’ve found a loophole that allows them to give their lemonade away — and ask for a small donation.
