That’s right, we have exploding spiders now – cue the nightmares.

These tiny yellow spiders have been seen all over Britain recently, and while they look small and harmless, they do have one particularly alarming feature.

Clustering together in groups of about 100 when they are born, the yellow garden spiders spin a very thin web around themselves.

However if anything touches this web, it breaks, spilling forth an unholy tide of creepy crawlies.

Breaking their web has been likened to an ‘explosion’ of spiders.

Don’t worry, the spiders are completely harmless – but no one likes to suddenly have 100 or more spiders crawling on them at once.

People have been fuelling nightmares by posting images of the spider sacks to social media.

Yellow garden spiders can grow to over an inch long (28mm), however the adults do not cluster together like their horrifying offspring.
