A pregnant teenage girl from Argentina was murdered by her boyfriend and now the family is demanding for justice.
Chiara Paez, 14, of Rufino, Santa Fe province, Argentina, was reportedly close with her family and popular at her school, where she was on the field hockey team. She went missing in early May, BuzzFeed News reported.
Friends and family helped search for Chiara, including her boyfriend, Manuel Mansilla. Mansilla had been dating the girl for a couple of months before she went missing.
Paez’s body was eventually discovered under a patio in Mansilla’s backyard. Her body had been beaten and she had been buried alive, according to reports.

Traces of a drug used in abortions were found in Paez’s body, who was eight weeks pregnant. Mansilla, who confessed to the murder, is also being charged with forced abortion.
Investigators believe Mansilla murdered Paez after an argument over her pregnancy, though they reportedly doubt that he worked alone. The suspect’s 34-year-old mother and her 43-year-old partner are also under investigation for Paez’s murder, according to BuzzFeed News.
“She is a big girl, physically, a height of 1.70m (5’6) and weighing 70kg (150 lbs.),” the victim’s father told reporters. “It’s impossible that he (Manuel) had done this alone.”
Paez’s death is just the latest in a string of murders against women because of their gender -- dubbed "femicide" -- in recent months In Argentina. Charities say that a woman is murdered every 31 hours in Argentina, Aljazeera America reported.
The violence against women has sparked a movement led by social media called hashtag #NiUnaMenos (“Not One Less”). More than 200,000 protesters gathered outside of congress in Buenos Aires on Wednesday to demand tougher laws on violence against women.
