A man who played the role of Florida State’s Seminole mascot for four years was killed last week following an argument over gumbo.
Caleb Joshua Halley died from his injuries last week after he was stabbed during an argument with a co-worker at a local restaurant over the amount of spices being added to a batch of gumbo, the Tallahassee Democrat reported.
Halley reportedly got into an argument with 26-year-old Orlando Thompson at Buddy's Seafood Market, where the two men worked, on Tuesday. As things in the kitchen heated up, Thompson grabbed a wooden board while Halley picked up a wooden knife. Thompson then retrieved a knife for himself and cut Halley three times across the torso.
Halley served as Osceola, the famed Seminoles mascot, from 2004-2007, according to local news reports. He died from his injuries two days after the incident with Thompson in Panama City, Fla.
Thompson has been arrested and faces manslaughter charges, the Tallahassee Democrat reported.
