A young US girl has been killed after a fish jumped out of the water into her family’s boat.
Five-year-old Jayln Rippy was in a boat with her family on the Suwannee River in Florida on Thursday when a fish leapt into the boat without warning.
The fish, a sturgeon, hit and killed Jalyn.
Her nine-year-old brother and mother Tanya Faye, 31, were badly injured in the incident and airlifted to hospital.
They will both require surgery for facial injuries.
