Minnesota lawmakers are worried about cell phone cases designed to look like handguns.

State Reps. Joe Atkins and Dan Schoen announced legislation Friday that would ban the manufacture, sale and possession of the gun-shaped cases. Minnesota's Legislature won't reconvene until March.

In the meantime, the Democratic lawmakers are urging retailers not to sell the cases and asking Minnesotans not to buy them. Atkins says they're dangerous and "a disaster waiting to happen."

The new products are marketed as a novelty. But they've raised concerns nationwide about police officers confusing them for real firearms.

Pretty sure they would be counted illegal here, no-one sees guns unless you hunt or target shoot and even then its a hell of a process. The 1% bikies still get their hands on them as it comes up in the news now and again, but a case like this would be seen as inviting all kinds of trouble. Not sure even the bogans, (think white trash), would be dumb enough to get one of these...maybe.
After the trouble up the road in April '96 no-one really has any problem with the strict gun law conditions, (as in no group are out there screaming about it), and thats just fine with me. Sounds ridiculous maybe but when you see guys going off, either alcohol or drugs or both, then imagine the real angry guy with a gun then easy to see how things can get bad real quick.

Anyone stupid enough to buy one, deserves to be shot by the police.
