Ok, not even halfway through the first episode and this sucker is just a tad unsettling.

So the premise is Androids exist and are bought and sold to be used however by whoever buys them. They're not sentient and the world of Humans don't expect them to be. The world at large is terrified of the idea of technology reaching that singularity, the point where machines achieve consciousness and make man obsolete. Apparently, there are 4 androids that have and this show is gonna follow what happens to these 4 and how they effect the world around them.

Interesting concept. A little 'I, Robot'.

I didn't see the first half of the first episode but have seen the other two.

They reference Asimovs 3 laws in the show. And there are many instances where even obeying the 3 laws they are unsettling.

Read after episode 3
The android who takes care of what's his name is a good example. The robot does not have to listen to him because she is owned by the health care provider and can force him to do anything as long as it is in his best interest medically.

Also I believe the 4? who have achieved consciousness in the show had it downloaded to them from a real human host.

Yeah they mentioned Asimov and the Von Neumann singularity, which I thought was really cool.

Honestly, when the first episode began, I thought the conscious four were actually humans. When they were abducted, I thought the abductors were stealing humans and turning them into Androids. It took me about 10 minutes to realize they were synths all along.

I'm gonna watch the other episodes later. This is a really good show.

I will wait until you catch up before commenting on anything else...

And I will see if I can watch the first half of ep 1 online.

I've watched up to the current episode. They're running into a few situations that are interesting variations on Asimov's Laws. I like it

So it's 5 and not just 4. The white dude with the brown hair is a synth too. So the white dude, the two black guys, the blonde, and the Asian chick are all synths. I was sure that the white dude was human.

You may want to hold off on that thought. Remember when had the gash in his side and was fixing it? He or his black partner made a comment saying something about how close he was to becoming one of them, implying he had a lot of hardware in him for a human.

I'd be willing to bet he's the son of the originator of synths that William Hurt is always talking about. And by the way, William Hurt is a great addition to the show

It was a unique moment. The black synth with the googly eyes does the Atheist thing and says it's likely you're not there, but every bit helps

Apparently, the second season (series) started in the UK last night (Sunday, October 30th). The second season won't start for us until sometime in February.

Scared me seeing this thread pop up, I'm glad I didn't miss the start of season 2

Sorry about that. I was wondering when the hell the show was going to start again, because I know the show was renewed for a second season/series. So I googled it and voila! It already started for the Brits. I'm sure we could downrent it if we wanted to see it that bad, but like I said, I know AMC is going to be showing it later, so I'm not overly concerned about it.
