A woman, who spent four hours at a Myrtle Beach seafood buffet and was then asked to leave after causing a disturbance, was arrested after telling police Jesus would pay for her meal, authorities said.
April Lee Yates, 51, whose hometown was not listed in the report, was charged with defrauding a restaurant after police said she went to the there without any money, knowing she couldn’t pay her tab.
Myrtle Beach police officers were called about 9:15 p.m. Sunday to Bennett’s Calabash Seafood Buffet Restaurant at 2900 N. Kings Highway in reference to a patron being unwilling to pay the bill, authorities said.
Police spoke with management when they arrived, who told them Yates arrived four hours earlier to eat dinner and was asked to leave after causing a disturbance among other patrons.
Management told police she said she would not pay her bill, according to the police report.
Police said they asked Yates if she had any money on her and she said no. Authorities said Yates replied that Jesus would pay for her when she was asked who she thought would pick up her tab.
Yates was then arrested and taken to the Myrtle Beach Jail, police said.
