A 19-stone British tourist had to be carried down a 279-ft tall bell tower by firefighters in Italy because he was too exhausted to make the descent himself.
The obese sightseer made it to the top of the historic Giotto tower during a visit to Florence at the weekend.
But the unnamed man collapsed at the summit and was too exhausted to make it down the 414 steps back to the ground.
The tower - part of the Florence cathedral complex - was then blocked to tourists while a team of firefighters managed to carry him down using a paramedic’s folding chair.
He was then taken to hospital as a precautionary measure, officials in the city said.
A Florence city spokesman added: “Tourists are advised to ensure they are fit enough to climb some of our taller monuments, or they restrict access to others.”
