PORTAGE, MI -- A Portage school administrator, charged with criminal sexual conduct, is accused of touching a female student's chest during class, according to a police investigation report.

The alleged victim, a 13-year-old student at Portage West Middle School, told police that on Jan. 21 Assistant Principal Kevin Doerfler entered the classroom, talked with the teacher at the front of the classroom and then approached the girl, according to the Portage Department of Public Safety report obtained by the Kalamazoo Gazette.

Doerfler, 52, walked up behind the girl, who was working on a test, and put his left hand on her back and his right hand under her arm and onto her breast, the alleged victim told police. Doerfler then asked her how she was doing since she had been sick the day before, and she said she was feeling better, according to the girl's statement.

Two students in the classroom told police that they witnessed the inappropriate touching, according to the police report. But the teacher in the classroom at the time, Greg Rapp, told detectives that he didn't notice anything unusual when Doerfler was in the room.

Doerfler told police that he touched the girl's back but he denied touching her chest, according to the report.

Police seized Doerfler's school-issued iPad and found dozens of pornographic images, the report said.

Detectives also interviewed another female student who reported that Doerfler made an inappropriate comment to her. The girl told police that Doerfler followed her down a hallway at school and then said "her butt got his attention," while reminding her of the school's dress code, according to the police report. The comment made her feel "uncomfortable," she told police.

Police asked Doerfler to take a polygraph test, to which Doerfler initially agreed, but he later declined to take it.

Sarah Baker, community relations manager for Portage Public Schools, said the administration launched an internal investigation upon learning of the allegations in January.

Meanwhile, Doerfler was reassigned to the Portage Public Schools District Office, located along Mustang Drive, on Jan. 23, Baker said. He was put on administrative leave following his arrest, according to Baker. Doerfler is charged with second degree criminal sexual conduct.

Portage schools hired Doerfler before the start of the 2012-13 school year. Prior to that he served as principal of Kalamazoo Public Schools' Maple Street Magnet School for the Arts since 2009. He was an assistant principal in Bangor from 2006-09.

Doerfler's bond was set at $10,000, and he is currently out on bond. He is next scheduled to appear in court Aug. 25, for a hearing in which a judge will decide if there is enough evidence against him to send the case to trial.

The Michigan Attorney General's Office is prosecuting the case.

My work computer is full of shit from AS, before we had the luxury of the imgr plugin, and we had to download and reupload everything. Of course if I didn't have the job I do, I probably wouldn't have porn on it  But only I can catch me
