I just placed an order for food from a local restaurant to be delivered and was informed that there would be a delivery charge of $2.00. I figured "since there's a delivery charge, then I'm not going to tip the delivery guy. He's covered". But then the wheels started turning in my head and I did a search asking the same question and came upon a bunch of posts in a lot of different places that say the delivery person never sees any of that delivery charge money. I'm inclined to believe them, but I still have some lingering doubts.

So I ask you guys: if you order food to be delivered and are charged a delivery fee, would you tip the delivery person?

:-k

Well, I gave the dude a tip. Total order was $22 and some change. I gave him $25 and told him to keep it.

i think the "built in" cost is just to cover mileage for the delivery dude, i think a tip is appropriate

I always do, albeit a bit less if there is a delivery charge.
