A man who has spent thousands in plastic surgery to look like reality TV star Joey Essex tried to get out of a driving ban by claiming he was ‘too famous to catch the bus’.
Sam Barton, 23, has been dubbed ‘Britain’s vainest man’ for the small fortune he has spent trying to look like the star of ITV2’s The Only Way Is Essex.
So perhaps it shouldn’t come as a surprise that when he was banned from the roads for drink-driving, he claimed he needed to keep his car because he was ‘too famous to catch the bus’.

Police in Tamworth, Staffordshire, pulled Barton over for driving erratically and found that he was had more than double the legal alcohol limit in his system.
At Burton Magistrates Court yesterday he pleaded guilty to the charge of driving with excess alcohol, but his solicitors argued that he should keep his licence because he was too well-known to take public transport and could face ‘hassle’ and ‘abuse’.
‘My solicitor told magistrates I needed to keep my car as I was too famous to catch public transport and there were fears I would be hassled and abused,’ he said.
‘But magistrates banned me anyway.
‘No way am I getting public transport.’
Barton revealed earlier this year that his £2,000-a-night party lifestyle had left him bankrupt.
He also has credit card debts of £25,000 from cosmetic surgery on his teeth, Botox, waxing, tanning and a nose job. A second nose job was paid for on the NHS.
