You might be enjoying the summer weather, but the folks over at Selfridges are getting ready for the Yuletide season.

Despite being 144 days before the Christmas day, the department store has opened its ‘Christmas shop’ in their flagship Oxford Street branch in central London.

But, why would you start selling Christmas light and crackers in early August?

Bosses at the department store say they want tourists who visit to be able to pick up their favourite Christmas decorations while in London.

So head on down if you want to browse through 150 different lights and trees, 120 different types of crackers and more than 50,000 baubles… in August.

(There’s going to be an even bigger selection as we get closer to December, apparently).

Geraldine James, Selfridges Christmas home and decorations buyer said: ‘We have so many customers visiting from all over the world and eager to snap up festive souvenirs on their summer holidays, which they can’t buy at home.

‘So we have to make sure we’re ready to showcase Christmas decorations they will truly treasure.’

You might scoff, but one million Brits have reportedly already finished their Christmas shopping, so maybe Selfridges are onto something?
