Japanese gourmets are being treated to a new dairy dessert - and it's made from gorilla excrement.
Researchers at Kyoto University in Japan have created a type of cheesecake, which is made with bacteria extracted from the animal's faeces.
The unusual food item, which comes in limited quantity, is available at the university's cafe from August 6-8, reported People's Daily Online.

Juichi Yamagiwa, President of the university, presented the new cheesecake at a press conference on August 5.
The unique bacteria used to bake the dessert was originally discovered in Africa where the Japanese researchers studied gorilla faeces.
It usually lives in the intestine of gorillas but can be carried out of the body by excrement.

Researchers cultivated the bacteria in the lab before using it to make a yoghurt.
The dairy product was then used to make the cheesecake.
According to reports, the dessert has a 'distinct flavour'.
Only 150 servings of the dessert is available and it's being sold at the price of 399 Yen (£2) each.
