William Shatner is many things: actor, singer, writer – and now he can add the title "digital art curator" to the list.

On Aug. 1, Shatner, 84, asked his Twitter followers to send him photos of themselves flashing the traditional Vulcan salute – the "Live long and prosper" hand gesture that his Star Trek costar Leonard Nimoy had originated on the classic sci-fi series. On Sunday, Shatner surprised Star Trek fans with the results of the request: a photomosaic tribute to Nimoy, who died in February.

For a @gishwhes task as a tribute to Leonard. In follow-up Tweets, Shatner explained that the image had incorporated more than 6,000 selfies submitted by fans. The mosaic was created in conjunction with @GISHWHES (aka the Greatest International Scavenger Hunt The World Has Ever Seen), a project hosted by Supernatural actor Mischa Collins. And yes, Collins' selfie was one of the 6,000 included, as Shatner pointed out.
