An infant was rescued by Greene County, Florida, deputies from his mother's car, who was found passed out at a red light.

Lacie L. Peterson, 29, was found unresponsive behind the wheel of her car with her 7-month-old infant son inside.

She is charged with child endangerment and remains in custody with a $10,000 bond, CBS 12 reports.

The Greene County Sheriff’s Office was alerted to the situation by a phone call from a witness who saw Peterson make several traffic violations and then fall asleep. She was slumped over the steering wheel at a red light.

Peterson was found to be impaired by the responding deputies.

The infant was found unrestrained in an unsecured car seat.

The infant has been released to the care of a family member.

A similar incident occurred in June when Lawrenceburg, Indiana, mother Lacie Sexton, 26, was found passed out behind the wheel after overdosing on heroin, Opposing Views reported. Her four children, all under the age of 10, were in the car with her.

Sexton was charged with four counts of child endangerment and having control of a vehicle while under the influence.
