Fifteen of the world's 30 least friendliest cities can be found in the United States, according to a new poll by "Travel + Leisure".
New Jersey's Atlantic City and Los Angeles, California fell within the top five least friendliest places, with Moscow, Russia, taking the number one spot. St. Petersburg, another Russian city, was listed as number 3, with Marseille, France coming in at 4.
Readers said Los Angeles residents are rude, unhelpful, and pretentious, and those who denounced Atlantic City also cited its rude residents.
New York, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Las Vegas, Miami, Washington D.C., and Boston were among the more well-known U.S. cities on the list--the trend being resident attitudes and behavior.
"New York has everything--just don't ask a person in the street to help you find it," one reader said.
"The attitude is awful. Random strangers will comment on [you]--Mind your own business, Boston!" another reader said.
Of the non-U.S. cities on the list, 10 of are in Europe, 3 in Asia, 1 in Africa, and 1 in South America.
Readers were asked to rank 266 cities, and rated them from their value to its people. The magazine reportedly received responses from nearly 200,000 people.
The magazine also said the results of the poll match with the results of another recent poll--the 2015 Unfriendliest Cities in America list.
"Of course, we've all had an unfriendly encounter with a local, or caught a city that's just woken up on the wrong side of the bed," Travel + Leisure said. "We know these cities, at their best, can all be inviting, vibrant and dynamic destinations."
