A woman performing topless in Times Square was nearly arrested when she decided to panhandle alongside her shirtless 2-year-old daughter.
Maria Diaz was performing as a desnuda, or topless woman, around 4 p.m. on Monday. She wore a frilly black skirt, but no shirt – instead, she had two black hearts painted on her breasts.
Shockingly, Diaz had dressed her daughter in a similar manner to perform in Times Square. The 2-year-old girl wore a black skirt and had two black hearts painted across her chest.
“Nobody wanted to take any pictures [with them],” Jose Escalona-Martinez, a performer dressed as the Caped Crusader, said. “Everyone was like, ‘What the hell is this?’”
Finally, police told Diaz that she had to clothe her child or risk getting arrested.
“You can’t have this girl here,” one officer reportedly said.
Diaz then grabbed a pink shirt from a stroller and put it on her daughter.
A performer dressed as Batman snapped a picture of the duo before the two finally packed up and left. According to witnesses, Diaz never earned any tips.
