Vacation time is finally here.
Truck and camper are loaded, waiting for the spousal unit to get here to start the 2100 mile journey.

I'm looking west out my front window and can see the mountains you're traveling towards. Banff is about 50 minutes from my place.

I'd invite you and the wife to stop over but we have some family matters going on, so it wouldn't be much fun I'm afraid...apologies.

You'll likely be traveling through the Banff park gates and then will hit a little town called Canmore. I worked at a resort in between Canmore and Banff called The Rocky Mountain Resort. (it's near Tunnel Mountain on the drive into Banff)

Try to get to Johnston Canyon if you have a spare afternoon. It's a nice little hike with small and large waterfalls on the way up to some inkpots. About 20 minutes outside of Banff.

btw...the Johnston Canyon ink pots are quite a ways up the trail and a little disappointing. They're not warm or a huge bubbling phenomenon...

Most people just hike to the upper falls and call it a day. A couple of hours at most seeing the lower and upper falls and there are tons of people doing the hike daily.
Yours truly and a friend of mine both jumped off the upper falls, something I would not recommend....unless there are no people around and you know to jump safely.

Not sure...

We had a coworker from New Zealand believing that all of us guys (5 of us) were gay and sleeping together. First time I had ever heard the term - Ya buncha poofter fudge packers!

Tourist shot of Banff Avenue. If you stepped back about 500 yards on the left, I lived in a place called Mile High Apartments. I lived in five different locations while working out there.

Mile High Apartments have probably been torn down and replaced by a business. In the late 80's, a lot of Asian folk visited Banff and started buying property there. Since it's in a provincial park, it was understood that almost all property out there was not for sale. The Asians brought a whack of money and started buying up businesses.

Made it to Wellington Kansas last night, Planning on staying in Cheyenne,Wy tonight.
Should be in Banff Sunday afternoon and staying at Tunnel Mountain II campground then to Jasper on Wed for 3 more nights.

The Johnston Canyon to Ink Pots was on my list of trails but according to the Park website it will be closed for repairs.:meh:

Best time of my life living out there Griff. There's lots to see and do in and around Banff, sounds like you've done some research. Have a good time
