A woman from Port St. Lucie, Florida, was arrested after allegedly having sex with a minor.
Heather Phillips, 40, is charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious behavior with a child under the age of 16.
The 15-year-old boy told detectives he was sexually involved with Phillips since mid-August, about two months after he and his girlfriend, Phillips' 12-year-old daughter, broke up.
Phillips reportedly had private conversations with the boy in her bedroom on various occasions to talk about his relationship with her daughter. Phillips reportedly told the boy that "she had feelings for him."
Phillips began messaging the teen using an app called ooVoo after he broke up with her daughter in June.
The boy told detectives they initially had sex on a slide at a park, reports WPBF. On another occasion, she allegedly performed oral sex on him and they had unprotected sex seven times.
Detective Sheila LaGrega says the teen tried to get her to stop several times, and even tried to leave her home. “She had a small silver pocket knife she took out and laid on a nightstand and made a comment, ‘don’t run,’” said LaGrega.
Two weeks later, she contacted the boy to tell him she was allegedly pregnant and planning to have an abortion. The boy told police that he did not know what to do and told his parents about the relationship.
Officers used the boy's cellphone to obtain an admission from Phillips, reports CBS 12. The officer, pretending to be the teen, texted Phillips to say he was going to tell his parents about the relationship. She replied, "Don’t say (expletive) until we talk," and "Have you lost your mind."
Phillips was arrested at her workplace, a preschool called La Petite Academy. According to the school, she is on a leave of absence pending the outcome of the investigation.
During an interview with police, she admitted to having sex with the teen, but that she was joking about being pregnant.
She is held at St. Lucie County Jail on a $60,000 bail. Phillips has no prior criminal record.
