A massive bundle of marijuana fell from the sky and crushed the house of a pet dog on the 8th September, stunning the family who owned the pooch.
Maya Donnelly, from Arizona, was woken up by a loud crashing noise, but assumed that it was a storm and went back to sleep.
However, the next day, she saw some large pieces of wood in her garden, and went to investigate.
On top of her dog's house, she found a bulky bundle wrapped in black plastic.
Mrs. Donnelly said: “It’s all right on top of our dog’s house, It just made a perfectly round hole through our carport.”
The family live near the border between the US and Mexico. She immediately rang her husband after assuming the package contained drugs. He told her to call the police.
Officers responded saying that an aircraft probably dropped the load while smuggling drugs from Mexico to the US.
Police chief Derek Arnson said that it was the first time in his career that he had seen damage to a house done by drugs dropped from the sky.
He said: “Someone definitely made a mistake, and who knows what the outcome of that mistake might be for them,”
The drugs are now in police custody after the family handed them in.
The family will have to pay the money for the repairs to their house themselves, and buy a new house for the dog.
Mrs. Donnelly said that friends and family had joked that she should have kept the drugs to pay for the repairs.
She said: “That’s what everybody says: ‘Why did you call 911?' But how can you have a clear conscience, right? We could have made lots of home repairs with that.”
