A woman collecting $153,265 in government benefits due to being “housebound” was caught partying at rock concerts in a series of photos.

According to reports, 32-year-old Joy Taylor insisted while being questioned by the British government that she was disabled and housebound, therefore entitling her to benefits.

Her initial claim in 2007, which was made following a serious leg injury in an accident, was deemed legitimate.

She recovered in 2009, however, and the benefits were supposed to stop there. They instead continued, and she and her mother, Linda Taylor, received an overpayment of $145,601.

Joy and her mother later admitted to making false claims for financial gain and were given suspended sentences.

Joy, the mother of a 6-year-old boy named Rhys, was caught in photos at several festivals and concerts — despite claiming that she was housebound and disabled the entire time.

The young mother was ultimately found guilty of transferring large sums of money from a bank account that was meant solely for care purposes.

“I definitely had a good time, I loved going out and dancing, seeing bands, enjoying myself, but that's all over now,” she said following the closing of her case. “I've calmed down, I want to get a job and carry on being a good mum to Rhys.”

“I'm sorry it happened, I'm not a bad person and I've never been in trouble with the law before but the temptation was too much,” she added.

What's depressing is that this is far from being an isolated case. :sad2:

Translation: "I'm sorry I got caught".
