While 20-year-old Cody Jackson from Ohio was out on bond for abduction and kidnapping charges, he held a 13-year-old girl captive for four months and impregnated her.
Jackson was arrested on Oct. 8 at a Greyhound bus station in Salt Lake City, where he had fled after authorities stopped monitoring his movements.
Jackson was initially being electronically monitored while out on bond for an abduction case involving two other victims when, federal authorities say, he lured his third victim to his apartment in Norwood, Ohio, after contacting her on Facebook in February, the New York Daily News reports.
According to the FBI's investigation, Jackson paid for taxis to pick the 13-year-old up and bring her to his apartment, since the monitoring system forbid him from leaving. In the three weeks that followed, he paid for the girl's rides to and from his apartment every other day and had sex with her on each visit.
In March, Jackson didn't allow the girl to leave and began to verbally abuse her, which soon turned into physical abuse, the Daily Mail reports. He raped her every day for over a month, causing her to become pregnant.
In July, Jackson plead guilty to a charge of interference of custody in connection with the earlier incident, at which point the abduction and kidnapping charges were dropped and authorities stopped monitoring him. He then fled the state, allowing his young victim to escape.
While on the run, Jackson allegedly threatened the girl on Facebook, saying he'd kill her family if she didn't send him sexually explicit photos, according to the New York Daily News.
Jackson is being extradited from Utah and faces a number of charges, including coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity, unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, production of child pornography, rape and kidnapping.
Production of child pornography, which authorities say Jackson had on Facebook, is a federal charge punishable by 15 to 30 years in prison.
Coercion and enticement of a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity is also a federal charge, which carries a minimum of 10 years behind bars and a maximum of life in prison.
