BHOPAL: A 12-year old girl was raped and shoved with wood pieces in her private parts in Rewa district of Madhya Pradesh. The survivor has been admitted with severe injuries to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital in Rewa for treatment.
The incident took place at Barhadi village under Raipur Karchulian police station of the district on Sunday afternoon. The accused, Abhishek Soni (24), was arrested on Monday and has been booked under section 376 (rape), 342 (wrongful confinement) and other relevant sections of IPC and Protection Of Children From Sexual Offences Act.
"The accused was not looking remorseful and on being arrested he lamented 'what can I do, it happened'," Raipur Karchulian police station incharge A P Singh told TOI.
The accused, who lives in the same neighbourhood, allegedly gave Rs 100 to the survivor and asked her to bring some coconuts. When she returned, he dragged her inside and locked the room, police said citing the complaint. He then raped her and inserted a piece of wood in her private parts, added police.
It was later when the survivor returned home that she narrated her ordeal to parents who then informed police.
"She has sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital for treatment immediately. Now, she is out of danger," Singh said.
The accused, locals say, had raped another minor girl in a similar way in the past, but the parents of the girl did not complaint.
"There is no formal complaint about another rape by accused in past, but locals are saying such things," added Singh.
