PLANO, Texas — The sleeping arrangements of a Texas family of seven has drawn praise and criticism from those on social media.

The Boyce family — two adults and five children — all share the same bed. Mom, Elizabeth Boyce, is amazed by the multitude of articles and mountain of social media comments about her family's unorthodox sleeping habits.

"Apparently anything can be controversial," she said. "Who knew?"

Boyce, a professional photographer, said the story came about after she posted a photo on Facebook of her "Ikea hack," in which she fitted two of the store's beds together.

"Honestly, of all the things I take photographs of, I never thought this would make us 'Internet famous' — which is a whole different kind of famous!" she said.

A Good Morning America segment on the family's bed went viral and spawned countless comments about the Boyces' decision to co-sleep with their kids, ages 1 to 11, who kept ending up in their parents' room anyway.

"I am for sure not the only one doing it," Boyce said. "Honestly I think a lot of us just do it without realizing that's what we're doing. A lot of people say, 'My kids come into my bed at midnight; that doesn't count.' Yeah it does. Your kid is in your bed — it counts."

They've received plenty of positive comments, but some messages have been surprisingly negative.

"You wonder ... really? Like go get a job or find a hobby!" Boyce said.

The Boyce family doesn't understand why their sleeping arrangement has incensed some people.

"I must live in a bubble, because I had no idea this would be a thing," Boyce said. "I thought we were really normal. My sister says we're not."

But they aren't losing any sleep over the critical comments, and plan to keep the famous family bed intact — for now.

"Well, until it's not working, yeah," Boyce said. "And now I feel committed ... like people are going to check in in 10 years to make sure our kids are still sleeping with us, which I am sure they won't be."

Considering the ages of the kids I really don't see the problem. If one or more of the kids were teenagers it would be a bit weird. I'm sure as they grow older the kids will want their own space.
