A man has revealed the horrific injuries he suffered after being bitten by what he believes was a false widow spider.

Sunil Dade was taking his washing in from the garden when he slung a hoodie over his shoulder, before suddenly feeling an immense pain in his neck.

The 33-year-old trainee plumber from West London said the pain was ‘a million times worse’ than a bee sting, and even hurt more than when he broke two vertebrae in an accident.

‘It was like I’d been struck by lightning,’ he told MailOnline.

‘I started shaking, my legs, my arms, uncontrollably. I ran into the house crying and shouting for my younger brother Sandeep, who’s 25, to help me.’

Sandeep saw the dead body of a fang-bearing spider, one inch across and with white and grey on a black body, on Sunil’s hoodie.

Amazingly Sunil tried to ignore the pain for a day before finally seeing a GP who immediately sent him to A&E.

Despite being prescribed antibiotics the skin on the back of Sunil’s neck started turning black and peeling off over the next few days.

A week after the bite Sunil still had trouble turning his head and sleeping, and has been unable to go to work.

Sunil threw the dead spider away, so it is impossible to determine if it was a false widow, however his GP confirmed he had definitely been bitten by something venomous.

The warm yet wet summer is thought to have led to a boom in Britain false widow population in Britain.
