McDonald’s has just launched three new ‘thicker’ gourmet burgers in the UK and they’re Michelin-chef approved.

Fancy.

The Signature Collection features three burgers, The Classic, The BBQ and The Spicy, and they’ll only be made to order.

Because customers ‘wanted thicker beef patties, high quality ingredients and freshly prepared,’ according to McDonald’s UK food development director Duncan Cruttenden.

It’s thought the new gourmet burgers, which were apparently signed off by Michelin chefs, have been introduced to take on the likes of Byron, Gourmet Burger Kitchen and Shake Shack.

They were launched this week across 28 restaurants, mainly in London and the south of England. There are plans to roll out the burgers in 400 restaurants across the UK next summer.

This one hundred per cent British and Irish beef patty is topped with two rashers of Beechwood smoked bacon, a slice of melted cheddar cheese, whole grain mustard mayo, ketchup, Batavia lettuce and red onion, and served in a brioche bun.

The BBQ

This time, your one hundred per cent British and Irish beef patty (okay, we get it), is served with smoky BBQ sauce, coleslaw, red onion, Batavia lettuce, Beechwood smoked bacon and some melted cheddar, on a brioche bun.

The Spicy

Guess what? It’s a one hundred per cent British and Irish beef patty in a brioche bun. The Spicy is topped with jalapeño slices, pepper jack cheese, Batavia lettuce, mayo and a spicy relish.

The burgers cost £4.69 individually, or £6.19 as part of a meal.
