Facebook recently pulled down a page that was called the “UC Berkeley White Student Union."

CBS San Francisco reports that the non-official University of California page stated that it wanted to “unapologetically provide a safe space for white students to air their true feelings” about the “challenges European-American students on college campuses face.”

Several UC students told the news station that the page was racist and mocked the Black Lives Matter movement.

Facebook pulled the page because the creator used a fictional profile.

UC Berkeley Chancellor Nicholas Dirks said in a statement on Nov. 23: “While UC Berkeley honors First Amendment rights, we do not endorse this attempt to create conflict and make light of the efforts of activists locally and nationally.”

UC's Berkeley Student Cooperative (BSC), which provides affordable housing for over 1300 students, recently unveiled its new principles to create a "safe space," notes Campus Reform.

Some of the principles include: "maintain gender neutrality in your language, and inquire about preferred pronouns," "all knowledges and opinions are equally valid" and "active listening – attention focused, maintain appropriate eye contact, check your body language, take breaks only when you need to."

The BSC claims that the following "make us feel unsafe": "guilt tripping," "[p]roblems aren’t brought to group’s attention but discussed in small groups" and "[u]sing exclusive language."
