He is one of the most in-demand actors currently around, but even Channing Tatum wasn’t above emailing Quentin Tarantino every day for a month to secure a role in The Hateful Eight.
Appearing on Jimmy Fallon, Tatum joked that he bagged a role in Tarantino’s new western by emailing Tarantino every day for a month by, he says, ‘just threatening any other actors that might be up for the role.
‘I was just praying that no one really tough was up for the role,’ he told Jimmy Fallon.
‘I’m so happy that he didn’t say, “Well Mike Tyson is up for this role”.’
But he admitted that nerves got the better of him during an early table-read of the film’s script – and he almost ‘killed’ co-star Bruce Dern by nearly pulling his arm out of its socket
‘I’m like “Oh my god. I just ripped Bruce Dern’s arm off. I just almost killed one of the best actors of our time. And I’m mortified’, Tatum said.
The Hateful Eight has polarised critics – with the BBC slamming it as his worst film yet, and describing it as a ‘sluggish, unimaginative dud.’
Conversely, Telegraph critic Robbie Collin praised the film as being ‘vital, riveting and real’.
