Tales from the Crypt is getting a series reboot at TNT, with The Visit director M. Night Shyamalan at the helm.

The horror anthology series will feature short and long form content curated by Shyamalan.

“To be part of such a beloved brand like Tales From the Crypt, something I grew up watching, and to also have the chance to push the boundaries of genre television as a whole, is an inspiring opportunity that I can’t wait to dive into,” Shyamalan says.

Tales from the Crypt is based on the EC Comics series of the same name, created by William Gaines. The original show ran from 1989 until 1996 on HBO, and the show’s host, the Crypt Keeper, has become an icon of horror.

Tales from the Crypt is known for stories with Twilight Zone style twists, so Shyamalan seems like a natural fit.

The new Tales from the Crypt will debut on TNT this fall.

I have never been a M. Night Shyamalan and its seems insulting to the franchise for him to attempt this. :meh:

Personally i think he's the Nickelback of the film industry, people just jump on the "hate" bandwagon for no good reason.........

The Happening, The Village, and Lady in the Water were all crap. I didn't bother with Airbender or After Earth. Devil, Signs, and Unbreakable were at best ok. The Sixth Sense was good and I think the atmosphere he puts into his movies lend really well to suspenseful ghost stories. I haven't seen The Visit yet but I heard it was pretty good.
