Balut as we know it is the most popular Filipino street snack in the country. It is a duck egg with a fetus inside, incubated for several days then boiled alive. It is also a popular aphrodisiac for men.

But according to Cracked.com, Balut is the number one worst food in the world. Most foreigners find it gross to eat because you are actually eating the poor feathery and beaky duck fetus. Its worst reputation makes the balut to be included in the Fear Factor challenge.

Well, I’m a Filipino and I don’t eat balut and many Filipinos don’t eat balut especially, women. I tried once but instead of reaching my stomach, it reached the floor.

I've worked with a few Flips and have to agree....some days I would go into our lunchroom and be amazed that after all of this time,
that I haven't ever smelled 'that' particular odor before :lol:

Never tried Philippino food... that sucks it's so horrible :lol:

But I love all Asian foods I've tried... Thai, Japanese, Chinese, Indian, Cambodian.

Didn't mean to say all of their items are nasty, only the ones that smell weird.We had a beautiful girl working here who came from
an island near the Phillipines.She told us back home it was nothing for everyone to eat bugs...and she showed us on the net which ones :shock:

I'm sure some countries are looking at some fast food menus and saying - I can't believe they eat that.

The US (and to a lesser extent Canada), it may not be what we eat, it's the size and unhealthy aspect that makes them cringe

Aside from crawfish (a party food), nobody eats that shit on a large scale..

It's kind of funny that we cringe when we hear what the Filipinos eat, but we think nothing of taking the waste pieces of a chicken, mince it up, fry it up and call it Chicken McNuggets.

Not to mention the multi-syllabic preservatives in most of our western cuisine.

2 of my brothers-in-law married Filipinos, and they cook wonderfully. masarap na pagkain kaluguran. It also depends on which district you're talking about too.
