Tennessee man Graham Patton has two black eyes, a swollen nose and bandages across his face after a brutal attack in South Memphis.

Police said that the attack occurred on Jan. 5. Patton had gone to take a walk outside around 11 p.m. when two men came out of nowhere.

“Something along the lines of ‘hey white boy what are you doing around here? You’re not supposed to be here’ or something and that was it,” Neysa Anderson, the victim’s stepsister, told WREG 3 of what the two men said to Patton.

Patton was then knocked to the ground and beaten. His sinus cavity was crushed in addition to the bones under his eyes.

“I mean he doesn’t even look like the same person at all,” Anderson said.

According to police, the men who committed the crime are still on the loose.

Michael Patton, Patton’s father, questioned why someone would attack his son without cause. Neighbors have since asked the same question, since it’s uncommon in that neighborhood for crimes associated with race to occur.

Anderson noted that nothing was taken from her stepbrother and that he was simply beaten.

Officers are currently searching for the men who committed the crime.

If the victim was black and it was racially motivated, the story list the race of the perpetrators.
