The Mars Curiosity Rover picked up images of what look like a massive gorilla on the Red Planet.

Footage released by Nasa also appears to show a camel-like creature in the craggy surface of the fourth planet from the Sun.

The gorilla has been seen before, but the new addition makes the image worth revisiting, with some saying it looks like a mother and baby bear.

Those claims have been made by a YouTuber who pontificates on the more unusual features of space.

Mister Enigma was reviewing the footage sent by the Curiosity Rover , which has been exploring Mars since 2012.

In a video about what many believe are rock formations, He said: "This picture taken by the Mars Rover Curiosity may be the most compelling when it comes to life on Mars for a lost civilisation.

"If we add a little colour to the photo, the features stand out a lot more. When we zoom in we can see what looks like a gorilla or bear-type creature or maybe even a statue of a creature.

"But what is even more odd is that right next to it on the left we see what looks like a smaller creature like a baby or cub."

Space spotters have claimed to identify numerous bizarre objects and species on Mars since the Curiosity Rover was launched, which they claim NASA denies the existence of .

Among them are a floating spoon, a giant scorpion , a space crab, a Buddha statue and a Martian version of Stonehenge.
