A TEENAGER died after allegedly setting herself on fire because she was unhappy about not having a toilet in her home.
The 17-year-old student reportedly doused herself with kerosene at her home.
The incident happened after her parents had left for work, according to police. They believe she died on the spot.
In a statement officers said the teenager’s parents are “farm labourers” and the family is “very poor.”
He added: “They don't have a toilet at house and have to go outside to answer nature's call.”
The officer in Hyderabad, India, added the student had begged her parents to build a toilet in the home.
Citing her family statement, he said: “The girl had been asking her parents to build a toilet of late and they had told her they will be able to construct one by next summer.”
