WHENEVER you ship your belongings across the country you expect that everything will arrive safely and in tact.

You don’t expect items to go missing or to get damaged but if they do, well, you deal with it. That wasn’t the case for one freaked-out Alaska Car Transport customer.

Sam Owens, who lives in Alaska, decided that she wanted to drive to Nevada so she organised for her car to be shipped to Seattle via the transport company.

Everything appeared to have gone smoothly, until she reached Portland.

It was there that the university graduate opened up her make-up bag that had been stored in the car while it was being shipped and claimed to have found this creepy note.

“I took your condoms... used them with a lady co-worker (smiley face). Would love to tell you about it.” The author then signs off with this email address.

A shocked Ms Owens shared the discovery on Facebook claiming the company refused her a refund and was also told it had a right to look through her items to “ensure you’re not lying about what’s in your car”.

She also claims she now fears for her life because “an obviously very creepy man” knows her address.

“So I shipped my car with Alaska Car Transport to Seattle to drive it down to Nevada, she wrote. “When I was in Portland my lips were dry, so I got into my makeup bag, which had been in a basket in the front seat.

“I noticed some of my lipstick was missing, and then I found this note. As of today the company is refusing to give me a refund and I’m currently fearing for my life because an obviously very creepy man knows my address and personal information and has seen photos of me that were inside that basket.

“So be aware if you ship your car with Alaska Car Transport that they will not protect you from creeps and your stuff will be rifled through because, as their manager said to me, they have to ‘ensure you’re not lying about what’s in your car.’ Nothing else was taken, but obviously someone could’ve stolen things since my car was clearly not secure. Please share and spread the word.”

The February 1 post has since been shared more than 160 times.

On its website Alaska Car Transport says customers are allowed to ship personal items inside their vehicle but it does not mention that items will be searched. It does say the company has to be informed prior to departure and a rate worked out for the shipment.
