Late Sunday night, it was announced that Taylor Swift donated $250,000 to Kesha, prompting Demi Lovato to pen this tweet:

This came after a long Twitter rant that was presumed to be about Taylor not standing up for Kesha publicly.
It didn’t take long for Taylor’s fans to start defending the singer on social media.

Demi also chose to speak out, defending her actions.

She commented on this photo (posted by user proudofswift, who at the time had 55 followers, and now has a private account).
“How the fuck am I making it about myself?” she wrote. “Not everyone has 250k to just give to people. Would love to but I didn’t grow up with money and def haven’t made as much as her…
“There’s no ‘rivalry’ I just give more fucks than other people and would rather start a dialogue ABOUT WOMEN COMING FORWARD ABOUT BEING RAPED than throw money at one person.”
When proudofswift wrote back, Demi replied: “I didn’t shade Taylor.”

“I’m just tired of seeing women use ‘women empowerment’ and ‘feminism’ to further brands without actually being the ones that have the uncomfortable conversations.”
Demi then uploaded this to her Instagram account.

With the caption: “Truth hurts. But truth leads to change. Be the change.”
So. Much. Drama.
