CONCORD, NH - A panic alarm incident at a local school led to numerous charges recently against a Manchester woman who was also allegedly in possession of cocaine.

Tabitha Lopez, 31, of Lincoln Street in Manchester, was arrested on Nov. 18, 2015, and charged with criminal trespass, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and possession of controlled drugs (cocaine), a felony.

Numerous police officers were sent to the Penacook Elementary School on Village Street in Penacook for a trouble alarm concerning an irate parent at the school who reportedly wouldn’t leave.

When the first sergeant and officers arrived, they saw a number of parents and staffers outside of the office. One staffer said there was “an irate parent” in the office. They went inside and spoke with a woman who was reportedly angry but “stated that she was not talking to anybody” about the incident and was leaving. The woman, according to an arrest report, was told she was being detained and was asked to go into an office to speak but reportedly refused.

“The woman refused to go into an office with me and said that she was in fear for her life to go with me,” the officer alleged. “I told her that there was nothing to fear and that I only wanted to discuss what had happened. I told her the sooner that I know what happened, the sooner she would be able to leave. She again refused. I then asked her what her name was. The woman refused to tell me her name and for the most part stopped talking.”

The officer later learned that the woman’s name was Lopez and she had been having transportation issues with her children. The school was also concerned about her coming to the school and creating a problem, according to the arrest report.

Administrators alleged that Lopez showed up at the school at just before 11 a.m., began yelling and causing a disruption, while refusing to leave.

“The disruption was so bad that they had to redirect students away from the main office,” the administrator alleged. “(When she) told Lopez that she had to leave the school. Lopez told her that she was not leaving.”

Administrators did not place the school in lockdown but did call police.

Officers alleged in their reports that she was screaming and swearing and wouldn’t stop. Eventually, she reportedly complied. Dispatch reported that Lopez had an active warrant out of the Bedford Police Department and the sergeant reportedly stated that there was enough to charge her on trespassing and conduct charges, so she was arrested.

Lopez allegedly began to get upset as she was being escorted of the office, questioning why she was being taken in to custody, and “folding her thumbs” in an attempt to slip out of the handcuffs. They were re-adjusted by police, according to the report.

During a pat down before being placed into a cruiser, an officer allegedly found a glass pipe in her jacket pocket. As the officer was handing the pipe to another officer, Lopez allegedly slipped out of her cuffs and reached into her pocket. The officers grabbed her arms but she allegedly wouldn’t stop resisting so she was taken to the ground.

After finally subduing her and getting her into handcuffs again, the officer allegedly found a small plastic bag in her pocket that contained chunks of white powder, reportedly determined to be cocaine.

Lopez was processed and released to Bedford Police. She was arraigned on Dec. 21, 2015.
