A MALE midwife who admitted misconduct at Southmead Hospital has been struck off.
Ronale Lock, 48, advised women to give more oral sex to reduce blood pressure, a misconduct hearing heard.
He also described a patient's placenta as "like a tug rope".
Lock, of Westonp-super-Mare, admitted all charges brought against him except for not doing observations.
But all were proved by a panel in London, at which chairwoman Lesley White said he had showed a "complete lack of sensitivity and professionalism" and breached his duty of care to patients.
Lock had already removed himself from the register of midwives.
The hearing heard Lock told a woman taking a powerful painkiller it "feels like being p***ed".
Lock also pretended his wife was recovering from surgery at a nearby hospital top get time off work and change his shift pattern, the panel was told.
It was also said he failed to keep babies warm and fed and did not check mums for a whole shift.
The incidents occurred from March 2010 to July 2013.
